Most popular wedding dress colors for 2015

We’ve already covered wedding dress etiquette for people attending the wedding, but what about the most important dress in the room? Although a good 80% of American brides stick to the traditional white (or shades thereof), a slew of celebrity hitches featuring colored wedding dresses – as well as a big push from gown designers – has given the remaining 20% the courage to experiment.

Let’s take a look at some of the most popular wedding dress colors of 2015, and things to bear in mind if you choose to go color for your special day:

1. Peach

It’s little surprise that peach – or some variation on pink – is one of the most popular wedding dress colors aside from white, given that it’s remarkably subtle and inoffensive.
Only the most staunchly traditional of people would even raise an eyebrow at such an unassuming shade, so it’s a great choice for a bride who wants to introduce a little color without going completely mental (it also doesn’t inhibit makeup and jewelry options too much.)

2. Mint Green

Much like peach, you can’t really go wrong with mint green – it’s very complimentary to a whole host of potential bridesmaid dress colors, and as you can see above, it works beautifully with spring floral bouquets.
That said, you’ve got to get the exact shade of mint right in order to avoid it looking ‘clinical’. With this in mind, if you’re gonna go green, why not go green green?

3. Emerald Green

Even though it’s very far removed from white, emerald green can look strangely traditional (depending on the dress design), possibly because it’s reminiscent of nature. It’s also one of the most popular wedding dress colors that isn’t on the lighter end of the spectrum given that it’s quite a strong, personal color without being overly brash or confrontational.
Oh, and if you’re a redhead, it creates an amazing look. Speaking of red…

4. Red

As far as the most popular wedding dress colors go, red is easily the most striking among them.
Of course, it takes a lot of courage to wear a color as bold as red, but at the same time there’s no other hue that conveys as much passion or love as this.

5. Black

Yep, black is indeed one of the most popular wedding dress colors of 2015, mainly thanks to one person: Vera Wang.
The designer started pushing the color during her 2012 fashion week shows, and itkinda caught on. While it’s still not as popular as the colors listed above it, some brave brides are embracing it as a choice for our more liberal times. Black makes a lot of sense – despite being the exact opposite of traditional, it’s a color that is flattering on anyone and can lead to some incredible black and white wedding photos.
