Fashion campaign for individual beauty

When it comes to standing out, fashion’s stance on the matter is somewhat of a double-edged sword. On the one hand, the importance of a curated, personal style is stressed. But, each season brings the latest trends and the must-have pieces we’re told we need to wear in order to fit in.

Lately, the fashion industry has been taking major strides in changing this dated mindset by celebrating diversity in all its forms — from increased diversity on the runway and in campaigns, to breaking down gender barriers when it comes to clothing. The latest big industry player to take the leap is major modeling agency, The Society, by partnering with Girls Inc. Of New York City to spread an important message to girls: Embrace your individuality. Girls Inc. is an organization that offers educational and lifestyle programs for young women, ages 6 to 18, making them the perfect partner for the campaign looking to empower young women.

To achieve this feat, they’ve enlisted 10 of their top models — including transgender model Andreja Pejic, Lindsey Wixson, Caroline Trentini, Molly Bair, Toni Garrn, and more — to front the campaign shot by photographer Ezra Petronio, and printed with the hashtag #HerSocietyStory.

“The project hopes to deliver the message to all girls that each one of them is different and equally valuable within society. They are growing up in an age where more and more opportunities have become possible, and they are free to be any version of themselves they want to be,” says The Society of the campaign.

Be on the lookout for posters of the campaign images throughout Manhattan during NYFW, and keep up with the #hersocietystory hashtag on social media.
